The Weekly eXchange is dead. Long live The Weekly eXchange!
In its place is a new, non-scheduled 4X gaming podcast, “The 4Xchange”. This podcast will be very similar to “The Weekly eXchange”, only it will be recorded as time permits and when there’s enough to discuss, instead of forced into a weekly format.
Outline:
- The change to “The 4Xchange Show”: fortnightly? whenever?
- Alliance of the Sacred Suns received its “biggest update evah”, which is dubbed v.8.4. It adds approximately 70% of the military system, many, many UI updates and additions, new gameplay mechanics, and much more.
- Chris Park and Arcen Games released “The Spire Rises”, AI War 2’s first expansion, then shortly thereafter, released v2.007, titled “Speed Boost”. The game keeps getting better and better at a rapid pace.
- Total Warhammer 2 Major Reformation
- The Battle of Polytopia for Steam: I have a key for someone who wants to help beta test it!
- Godking: Master of Rituals announced
- Just as we expected, Warhammer 40K: Gladius – Relics of War received the much-anticipated Tau DLC this past week and then almost immediately continued their fantastic history of improving and updating the game with v1.5.1, adding new graphics options, a new splash screen, balance changes, and more bug fixes. Proxy Studios is doing a great job, as Ben so eloquently stated in his ReeXamination of Gladius.
- Astra Exodus Update
- Paradox continues to discuss its upcoming “Federations” expansion for Stellaris, with the long-awaited AI rework dev diary. Easily one of the most requested upgrades for Stellaris, it’s good to finally see some real attention given to Stellaris’ AI.
- Starchart Interactive continues to update its work-in-progress 4X game, Dominus Galaxia, with v0.7.1.8 all the way up to v0.7.1.8C this past couple of weeks.
- A brand-new 4X game, both free and open-source, was released this past week by a developer named Robert Bleyl. Skrupel TNG, a browser-based 4X game that doesn’t require any downloads or plugins, is an impressively deep game with SIX factions currently and some really neat gameplay. Check it out!
- Interstellar Space: Genesis developers, Praxis Games, showed off the new icy biomes in their upcoming graphical overhaul. Stay tuned to eXplorminate for more information about this upcoming update, as we’ll have even more eXclusive information to share soon!
