Rob founded eXplorminate in 2014 as his passion for 4X needed an outlet. You can find Rob in just about every 4X game beta and 4X game forum, too. He’s equally obsessed with the strategy and tactics genres and constantly combs the internet for new and exciting titles in those genres. He’s proud to be a member of Amplitude Studios’ VIP program and the concept creator of Endless Space 2’s Unfallen.

The Eldar!They have pretty lights:)
Tough one, I’m partial to the good ol’ Space Marines just cos I grew up with them the most and they were the most cost effective army to collect but I do love the aesthetic of the Imperial Guard!
Imperial Guard! No fancy gene-based super muscles or eldritch powers here. Just hard working men and weapon defending their homes with laser rifles, basic body armor, and hope. Oh and tanks, lots and lots of tanks!

I love Goblins! Do I have to explain my love for them? Let my time-lapse video painting one of them show better than words how they move me inside (probably if I ever meet one of them with those blunt weapons of them, they will for sure MOVE ME INSIDE with them).

Nurgle! Because who needs high tech when you can just make your enemies die of tuberculosis!
Chaos Space Marines, because who doesn’t love chaos, and space, and marines?!
I actually really dig the Tau. I like their aesthetic and focus on firepower & mechs. Really liked playing them in Dawn of War 2! They’re also the faction closest to “not genocidal”, but it is Warhammer.
Wait wait wait, what’s thiiiIIIISS? Battlesector has an all-new Tau expansion coming soon? What a coincidence! Would sure be great to try them out with a brand new copy of Battlesector *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*.

Can I put down now defunct races? I was always a huge fan of the Squats, because who doesn’t love space dwarfs!
Orks, they are the only ones having fun.
Orkz cause green iz best. WAAAGH !
Eldars. I love hit and run tactics in games, they were perfect for that in Dawn of War. Fleet of Foot, Webways…
Eldar because I like elves in general, and in W40K they are an ancient and highly advanced species.
Orks for me, they are the most magically inclined race there is. With pure ignorance, and hope they are able to make red things go faster and even travel through space on piles of junk.

I really enjoy the Imperial Guard, because they are the only real pure humans (just like any of us). They fight anchored solely on it’s sheer unit’s massive numbers, like an infinite wave of the Emperor’s will!
I’ll take the Chaos Space Marines, specifically the World Eaters. Their near-mindless, psychopathic nihilism makes them practically the mascot of the whole setting, yet their master, Angron, was never treated right by the Emperor in the first place, making their grievance against the Imperium (and life in general) seem just ever so slightly more sympathetic than the rest of the Chaos groups.

Chaos Demons, and specifically Slaanesh! They really straddle the line between elegant profiles with ugly, demonic features. I liked their lore and models, but then Total War: Warhammer really sold me on them seeing them in motion, their dancer-like fluidity and grace. They’re like the Sirens of old updated for modern, perverted times.
And once Chaos Marines get their Emperor’s Children army of Slaanesh marines, they’ll probably be my face!

Tyranids, because I like swarms.
Space Marines, specifically Blood Ravens. My introduction to 40k was Dawn of War 1, so whenever Blood Ravens are in a story, it reminds me of first discovering 40k.
Space Marines are my favorite faction. As someone who only knows WH40K from video gaming, Space Marines deliver the iconic WH40K gaming experience.
Beginning with Space Hulk (3DO) to Sanctus Reach to Gladius and now Battlesector, the Space Marines are the faction that are always battle ready and allow me to drop right into the combat action, “FOR THE EMPEROR!”

Double post, please delete, sorry!
It’s the tyranids and there’s no question about it. Mysterious ancient technology? That’s got competition. Powerful psykers? We’ve seen it. But a self evolving fleet of bioships that consume anything they come into contact with? They’re in a league of their own, no question.

More of a subfaction, but I really dig the Custodes. Big dudes in golden armour, seeing the Emperor through thick and thin.
Orks! They’re the only ones that have huge amount of fun. Also reading Brutal Kunnin’ where they’re pitched against Adeptus Mechanicus is awesome.
Imperial Guard. Because they are not augmented humans fighting against terrible monsters. Also, I really like the mechanic of having to make a sacrifice (your units) to get some kind of advantage on the battlefield.

Tau because I had to learn over and over again how to beat them with Space Marines when playing Dawn of War against my friend.
Tyranids, because they are the most 4X-y faction:
they eXplore the galaxy as quick as possiblethey eXpand as fast as possibleonce they control a planet, they eXploit it as well as a min-maxer, nothing is left unusedand that, of course, requires them to eXterminate. It’s nothing personal, no unjustified hate, just the need for more biomass to survive (they are also the most Factorio-like faction, THE HIVE MUST GROW, and I would argue that Factorio is a kind of 4X)

Adeptus Mechanicus!
Their aesthetic is so interesting and unique — monks in robes, praying to machines with censers and speaking in binary. A very interesting human (ship of theseus?) faction.
All based off of Gladius my favourite recently has been the astra militarism (or imperial guard whichever you prefer) stomping with their tanks is so fun.
The T’au. What can I say, I appreciate their optimism
Daemon Hunters. Glaives along classy colour scheme make them the most stylish chapter. For the Emperor!
Well, I came to make love to a bear but quickly realized that it’s a different game and since there is only war in the grim darkness of the far future, I decided to stick with the good olde eldars.
The Tau because they were OP in Dawn of War: Dark Crusade but also because I fell in love with their lore when they had a refresh 4 or 5 editions ago.
The Necrons! This galaxy, after all, is truly infested with vermins
The Orks!
Nothing beats kitbashing, and the Orks are the bashiest of kitters!
The Tau ! Because they bring a Mechwarrior vibe to this dark 40k universe and are able to shoot down ennemies without getting their hands dirty… ho yes they leave that to blood angels and orks.
The Blood Angels! Because they harness the madness of their Primarch’s glorious dying moments to empower them in battle; that’s metal as heck.
Every time I can play the “Intergalactic Space Bugs from Hell” (aka Tyranids) in a PC game, it is a glorious day. (Thanks Stellaris for allowing me to do this!)
.
Every time I play a Space Marine and have to kill them, I get sad. 🙁
My fav are the Dark Angels 100% ever since i found deathwing space hulk and played it, still collecting minis
