In an exciting post on Twitter today, Mohawk Games announced the release date of their hotly anticipated 4X game, Old World, set for July 1st of this year on the Epic Games Store:
Soren Johnson, the respected lead developer and founder of Mohawk Games, is well known for being one of the great minds behind the venerable Civilization IV, which is often cited as the best Civilization entry in the series, along with the excellent Offworld Trading Company. With an amazing team and the incredible support from his amazing wife and now-CEO of Mohawk Games, Leyla, who has also done much of the art direction and writing for the game (as well as the voiceover for the trailer), Old World looks to be a solid entry into the genre with its many innovations, from the Order system to dynastic leaders and dynamic events. No announcement has been made on when Old World will be released on other storefronts, however, we anticipate that a Steam release may be coming in the future.
While the game has been available to the public during it’s Early Access development for the past year, we are excited for Old World to finally hit it’s 1.0 release. Expect a full review of the release version of the game on the site!
