That “infiltration” thing sounds like a nod to how the Germanic tribes actually entered the Roman Empire. They weren’t “invaders” so much as “refugees allowed to settle in exchange for military service”, or foederati.
The Visigoths rebelled when their rations came late and they were forced to sell their children into slavery. While the Ostrogoths were ordered to sack Rome by the Emperor, though their secession from the Empire wasn’t in the original plan.

Did I zone out for a few minutes or did Nate forget to get on his soap box? 😉

Oh no, I got on 3 times but because of the blizzard that Troy was experiencing, we had to cut it out. Assuming this weekend doesn’t present another blizzard, we’ll re-record it. Stay tuned and thanks for listening.

Warcraft claims are unfair, in my opinion. Pretty much all high fantasy is based heavily on Tolkien and so will have many similarities. I do wish more game developers would explore non-Tolkien fantasy worlds, as the same old noble elves and gruff dwarves gets tiresome, but that’s another issue.
Zerg and Tyrannid claims may be more fair, Zerg are not a hive mind though. Does the biological-nightmare civilisation idea really originate with games workshop?

No doubt. I wasn’t trying to ding Blizzard, it was more about the absurdity of the whole situation. I think the alien reference to the zerg and Tyranids spawned with H. R. Geiger and probably earlier. Space Marines are from Starship Troopers by Heinlein if not before.
For non-Tolkienesque fantasy settings one need look no further than the Thea and/or Dominions series.

Friday night. We usually record Saturday or Sunday with Friday or Monday being an alternate date that depends on life circumstances and the like.

Nate, you didn’t miss much by not playing the Tyrranids right away — the base game update broke the Necrons in a hilarious fashion (free Rapid Rise!), which has only just now been hotfixed.
Enjoyable listen as always, back to your usual professional sound quality after last weeks chair-related sabotage. 😉

Steam just announced yet another new DLC for Endless Legend. Yeah!!!

eXplorminate 7 years ago

Yea, Symbiosis and then we have Penumbra for ES 2.

Was a very fast preorder for me. I will happily buy all the DLC Amplitude puts up. I still love EL to no end and I think Amplitude is giving it loving care instead of milking it. Endless Space 2 is more of an occasional distraction but still fun. Of course once Planetfall hits, oh boy. Great show by the way Nate and Troy. Thanks as always.
