For me one of the big red flags about Planetfall is that we are already up to five cosmetic packs.
I’d really like to believe that this is all going to be fine but for any other company the preorder setup with the season pass for undisclosed content (three DLCs but what they are is a mystery) coupled with meticulously subdivided preorder content would be a red flag. It makes me think we’re going to get a giant pile of DLC and it will be carefully divided out so that the “season pass” doesn’t get you all of it.
It makes me expect it will be like other Paradox titles.
And I’ve never gone for those in large part due to the incredibly high total cost of the game.
If this is like AoW3 and we should expect two reasonably meaty expansions and the season pass just pre pays for them at a discount, maybe it’s a good deal. But if this is just the first 20% of an EUIV style dlc bonanza then I might be 100% out on the entire product. I like enjoying the full game as it’s released on titles I really care about but I’m not spending four hundred dollars in bits and pieces over the years.
The message the preorder setup is sending is being sent in a context and that affects the message received. Is this AoW3 style expansion material (widely praised for being real expansions instead of dlcs), or paradox style infinite dlc that doesn’t necessarily change that much but might be worth picking through on a sale? Preordering the latter via a season pass is crazy.

I don’t believe there’s a need to pick up *all* the DLC for any given Paradox title. The completionist hook is certainly what they’re cashing in on, but if you can be content playing one of their games with only a few good pieces of DLC the cost becomes much more manageable. After all, their base games always benefit from free updates in the long run, unlike some other companies I can mention who only support their DLC.
Which is not to say that there’s nothing wrong with Paradox’ DLC practices from a consumer perspective, but hey, it works out for them.

64bit apps don’t run faster than 32bit apps. It allows one app to address more than 4GB of memory space. In fact, because the memory addresses take twice as much space, 64bit apps run sightly Slower than 32bit apps. Whoever sold you on the idea that they will intrinsically run faster, use more cores, etc, is selling you rainbows.
